U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU) conducted an Amphibious Task Force Defense exercise aboard the Whidbey Island–class dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45).
Marines from Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3/5, embarked aboard USS Comstock at Naval Base San Diego, California, on January 20, 2026, as part of preparations for integrated training and operational readiness.
The 11th MEU is currently deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. This exercise is designed to enhance firepower, joint-force coordination, and combat readiness across a wide range of amphibious and maritime defense scenarios.
These activities demonstrate the continued readiness of U.S. Marines and Sailors to respond rapidly and effectively while supporting regional stability through modern amphibious operations.
