Sheriff Gabe Morgan recognized the men and women who were promoted during 2023, gave special recognition to staff members who saved lives in the performance of their duties, and awarded Medals of Valor to deputies who responded to the shooting at Richneck Elementary and to deputies who were able to calm a woman who was upset about being evicted. and thanked men and women who retired after serving the NNSO and the community. The guest speaker for the January 8, 2024 ceremony was Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, who is also running for the Democratic nomination for Virginia governor.
