Today I thought I'd just do a quick little video on how to save our favourite sun bro!

Solaire of Astora is a character who appears in Dark Souls. He is an exceptionally skilled warrior who purposefully became Undead so he could visit Lordran in his quest to find a sun of his own. He has become a fan favourite among the Dark Souls community due to his jovial attitude and memorable dialogue. Depending on the player's actions in Lost Izalith, Solaire will either be available for help as a summon against the final boss, or his descent into madness and despair will force the player to kill him.

First of all, Solaire takes a particular route through the game, these are the places you meet him, here is the most important part:

Anor Londo bonfire room
Sunlight Altar balcony
Bonfire AFTER killing the centipede demon
Sunlight maggot hallway

In the Sunlight maggot hallway there are 9 Sunlight Maggots. 8 of these will respawn after killing, but only 1 of them doesn't. This is the one that infects Solaire, if he reaches this point. So what you have to do is kill this one maggot before Solaire reaches the Sunlight maggot hallway.

When Solaire is at the Sunlight Altar balcony, go to the Chaos Servant Covenant en rank up to rank 2 using 30 humanities. Then the shortcut door will become unlocked in the Sunlight maggot hallway. Proceed through the Demon Ruins, but do not enter the Demon Firesage boss. Instead go down the vines into the Sunlight maggot hallway. Kill every single maggot you find, there will be a total of 9 of them. Open the door you unlocked and kill the remaining behind it. Make sure you get all 9, so you are certain you killed the non-respawning one. You can check this by resting at a bonfire and counting them again, if there are only 8, you're good.

After that pretty much do whatever you want, kill the Centipede Demon boss, optionally speak to Solaire at the bonfire after the fight, continue through Lost Izalith until you reach the Sunlight Maggot hallway again. There will you find Solaire once more, and he won't be infected, because you killed the one maggot that would get to him
