John Maxwell Coetzee (born 9 February, 1942) is an 84 year old South-African and Australian writer. His works are noted for their racial tensions, effects of colonization, relationships, language and power.
Coetzee's first book was published in 1974, under the title, 'Dusklands.' His important works are : Waiting for the Barbarians (1980), Life & Times of Michael K (1983) and Disgrace (1999).
Currently, Coetzee lives in Adelaide, Australia and his latest book is titled, 'The Pole and Other Stories (2003)'.
