macOS Monterey has been released for users starting from today. It has arrived as the successor for the macOS Big Sur. Apple announced the macOS Monterey at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) back in June this year. Its beta edition for developers was rolled out soon after the launch. A public beta was released in July, and its full version was rolled out to all users on October 25th.

FaceTime
The SharePlay feature for FaceTime allows users to view and share movies, TV shows, music, and webpages in FaceTime calls. Pause, rewind, fast-forward or jump to a different scene will sync everyone’s playback. It will also users to connect FaceTime on Mac while watching videos on Apple TV or listening to music on HomePod. FaceTime camera also adds new features such as portrait mode, spatial audio, voice isolation mode, wide spectrum mode, FaceTime links, calendar integration, and joining FaceTime on the web.

Messages
macOS Monterey brings an all-new Share with You feature to Messages. Consent sent to the user over messages automatically shows up in the Shared with You section in Photos, Safari, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV app. Messages now feature a new Save button for easily saving received Photos.

Safari
Safari Tab Groups allow users to group tabs, which can be synced across different devices. It also brings a redesigned sidebar, compact tab bar, new privacy protections, and the ability to upgrade insecure HTTP sites to HTTPS.

Focus
Focus can automatically filter notifications based on what a user is doing. It offers features like Do Not Disturb model to switch off all notifications, or choose from options like Focus for work, personal time, sleep, fitness, gaming, reading or driving. It also offers features like a custom filter option, status, urgent messages, and auto-reply. Focus can sync across all devices.

Notifications
Notifications now sport a refreshed look. It also brings features like mute notifications, muting suggestions, communication notifications show up with contact photos, and time-sensitive notifications that are delivered immediately.

AirPlay to Mac
AirPlay can be used to send content to a Mac from an iPhone, iPad, or another Mac. While sending content, users can mirror or extend the display to Mac. AirPlay will work both wirelessly and wired using USB. It will also allow users to use Mac as a third-party AirPlay 2 speaker.

Shortcuts
System-wide pre-made shortcuts will be available throughout MacOS from places like the Finder, Spotlight, Dock, menu bar, desktop, and more. It will allow users to run compatible iPhone and iPad shortcuts on Mac with M1 or Intel-based processor.

Live Text
Live Text can detect text on Photos, Screenshot, Quick Look, and Safari. It offers features like copy and paste, lookup, and translate.

iCloud+
iCloud+ adds iCloud Private Relay service for connecting to any network and browsing with Safari in a secure way. iCloud+ also offers other features like Hide My Email, HomeKit Secure Video, and a custom email domain.

Maps
Maps in MacOS Monterey includes new features like an interactive 3D globe, a detailed view of some cities, new driving features, redesigned place cards, improved search, curated Guides Home, and redesigned maps contributions.
