ඉතා පුරාණයේ සිටම ගම් වල පැවත එන චාරිත්‍රයකි කිරිඅම්මාවරුන්ගේ දානය. බොහෝ විට කාන්තාවකට දරු උපතක් සිදුවීමට පෙරාතුව හෝ පැපොල සරම්ප වැනි බෝවන රෝගයක් වැලඳුන විට හෝ කුඩා දරුවකුගේ කිසියම් අසනීප තත්වයක් නිසා හෝ එබඳුවූ අවස්ථාවක ඉක්මනින් නිරෝගී සුවය පතා කිරි අම්මාවරුන් සඳහා බාරයක් ගැට ගැසීම සිරිතකි.

බොහෝවිට බාරය සිදුවන්නේ බදාදා හෝ සෙනසුරාදා දිනකය. බාරය පිරිමහන්නේද එවැනිම වූ කෙම්මර දිනකදීය. මෙම බාරය සඳහා කිරි අම්මාවරු හත්දෙනෙක් යොදා ගැනීම වඩා ප්‍රකටය. කිරි අම්මාවරුන්ගේ දානයට අනිවාර්යෙන්ම සහභාගි කර ගනු ලබන්නේ දරුවන් වැදූ මව්වරුන් පමණය.

ආරාධනා ලැබූ කිරි අම්මාවරු උදෑසනම අදාල නිවසට පැමිණේ. ඔවුන්ට වාඩි වීම සඳහා බිම පැදුරු එලා ඊට උඩින් සුදු රෙදි පිරුවට අතුරා තබා තිබේ. වාඩි වූ පිරිසට කැවුම් කිරිබත් කෙසෙල් ගෙඩි ආදිය එක් වර්ගයකින් තුනක් බැඟින් ලැබෙන ලෙස තුන්වරක් බෙදයි. බොහෝවිට එය කරන්නේ අදාල බාරයට හේතු වූ පුද්ගලයා විසිනි.එසේම කිරිපැණි භාජනය බැඟින්ද ඒ කිරි අම්මාවරුන්ට පූජා කෙරේ. තවද බුලත් කොලයක් පුවක් ඉරුවක් කාසි වලින් පඬුරක්ද මෙසේ දෙනු ලැබේ. මේ කටයුතු සිදු කිරීමට පෙර හඳුන්කූරු දුම්මල වැනි සුවඳ වර්ග හා බුද්ධ පින්තූරයක් සමඟ පොල්තෙල් පහනක්ද දල්වා අම්මාවරුන් සමීපයේ තබනු ලබයි. මෙසේ මූලික කටයුතු අවසන් වීමෙන් වූ පසු කිරි අම්මලා ගෙදර අයද සමඟ පන්සිල් සමාදන්ව බුදුන් වැඳීමක් කරනු ලැබේ. එයින් පසු තෙරුවන් වැඳ පත්තිනි දේවිය සිහිපත් කරමින් යාතිකාවක් පලපුරුදු කිරි අම්මා කෙනෙකු විසින් සිදුකරනු ලැබේ.

This is often done by the person responsible for the vow, and the milk jug is also offered to the mothers. A betel leaf, an areca leaf and a coin gift are also given. Prior to this, a coconut oil lamp with incense sticks and a picture of the Buddha is lit and placed near the mothers. After the completion of the basic activities, the breastfeeding mothers celebrate Pansil with the family and worship the Buddha. After that, an experienced breastfeeding mother performs a prayer in remembrance of Goddess Pattini by worshiping the Triple Gem.
