Add dual extrusion to your current 3D printer - dual switching extruder guide

Описание к видео Add dual extrusion to your current 3D printer - dual switching extruder guide

I’ve had many requests for a guide on converting a standard 3D printer to dual extrusion, so finally here it is. My patron Carl pointed me towards a dual switching extruder from Makertech3D, which I’ve fitted to my Tevo Tornado. Assuming you have a mainboard upgrade with 5 stepper motor drivers, this kit would be compatible with the Ender 3 or CR-10.

This kit features dual hot ends that are switched by a servo. Each has an ooze shield so a purge block is not required, saving a lot of filament. After a lot of troubleshooting this works very well, and I’m excited to push it further. Never have so many hours been condensed into a small video.

Some other issues I had that didn’t make the video:
SD card would crash the printer until I formatted it
Servo was drawing too much current so I wired in a buck converter to free up the MKS Gen L onboard VREG
Forgot to change e-steps after second firmware change

My wiring and configs are provided below, keep in mind you will need to calibrate your own servo positions, as this will depend on the way the arm is facing when you put it on.
