In Season 16 of Shark Tank, Kimmy Aguirre walked into the Tank asking for a $100,000 investment in exchange for 10% ownership of her company, Doatnut. That meant she valued her business at $1.5 million.
Kimmy wasn’t pitching your average sugary donuts. Her Doatnuts are low-calorie, gluten-free, dairy-free, and made with clean, natural ingredients like oats, egg whites, and sweet potatoes. Each donut has just 90 calories and less than 1 gram of natural sugar—a healthy snack made for people who want to eat smart without giving up taste.
She told the Sharks that she grinds the oats herself in her pink shop and turns them into donuts daily. Each donut costs about $0.70 to make and sells for $3.50—leaving plenty of room for profit. Shark Kevin O’Leary even suggested she raise the price to $4.99 to increase her margins.
Kimmy launched Doatnut in 2021, and since then, she’s made around $350,000 in total sales. But in her most recent year, sales dropped to about $50,000, and she revealed she was in $70,000 of debt—using her own savings and even mortgaging her home to keep the business alive. Some Sharks got worried.
Kevin O’Leary liked the product but passed because of the low sales. But then came a sweet offer.
Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner teamed up and offered $150,000 for 30% of Doatnut. Kimmy countered with 20%, but the Sharks came back with an even better deal: $200,000 for 30%—. Kimmy said yes, smiling with excitement.
After the episode aired, everything changed.
Kimmy’s sales jumped, her website traffic spiked, and Doatnut became a buzzworthy brand on social media. Fans loved the story, the flavor, and the mission.
Doatnuts are now shipped nationwide, and Kimmy’s shop in Oceanside, California stays busy.
The company’s estimated net worth in 2025 is around $1000,000—and still growing.
