Changing global power dynamics, shifts in global governance, and renewed debates about the relative importance of regime type in foreign policy raise important questions about the role of democracy and autocracy in the geopolitics of Asia. If the US re-emphasizes the global importance of democracy, how is China likely to react? Are other actors, like Russia, important in understanding these dynamics? How will potential US-China tensions over democracy influence other democratic enclaves in the region, including Taiwan and Hong Kong? Are any tactics or trends of undermining democracy new or is it more of the same? What are your biggest concerns regarding the geopolitics of democracy in East Asia?
