Iriomote is rather famous for the Mangroves and rivers that you can kayak through to reach waterfalls and caves. We were so lucky staying at IL Mare Hotel to be near enough and not need joining a 10,000 yen tour, we could just take the bus 3 stations and be there at one such area with Utara Tanko Coalmine Ruins to the left and Mangroves to the right. Also we had the top floor room with stunning bay view, breakfast buffet on the terrace and could stroll in 20 pleasant minutes to the Star ⭐ Beach Hoshizuna! But actually IL Mare is on cape Unarizaki with a wonderful park and 3 secluded white beaches 🏖️ that we didn't have time to go to, a great location on Iriomote!!
