Very few stoner comedies seem to actually be about being a stoner on anything more than a surface level, wanting instead to focus on the act of smoking weed. In The Big Lebowski however, we see an excellent portrayal of the mindset and lifestyle that smoking weed every day for a decade can lead you to. Everything about the events of the movie, and The Dude's personality points to this idea.
