-Extension of AB PM JAY Scheme to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above
• Govt of India approved the extending the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
• It is irrespective of the socio-economic status on attainment of 70 years and their family.
• The age recorded in the Aadhar is the determination factor for enrolment.
• Aadhar only the document required for enrolment.
• Aadhar enabled e-KYC will be mandatory for enrolment and issuance of Ayushman cards.
• Central/State Govt employees under their health scheme will be given a one time option to choose between the current scheme or the AB PM JAY scheme to avoid duplication.
• Those who are having active private insurance policies and ESI would be eligible to avail benefits under the scheme.
• An additional top up to 5 lakhs per year will be provided to the existing senior citizens aged 70 years and above covered under the earlier scheme.
• This top up Rs.5 lakhs can be used for the senior citizen if family utilizes full or part of the existing and he will utilize up to 5 lakhs of the top up amount.
• A shared cover of Rs.5 lakhs per family per year will be available for senior citizens in families and this cover will be exclusive to senior citizen aged 70 years and above.
• Registration for all eligible senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be application based only.
• Enrolment is a continuous process allowing registration throughout a year.
• A distinct Ayushman card will be issued to all eligible senior citizens.
• This scheme will be rolled out shortly.
