To really travel in style on a European river cruise, you'll want to consider sailing with Avalon Waterways. In this episode, I'll share my full stateroom tour of the largest stateroom on the Avalon Imagery II, which is the Royal Suite. Sized at 300 square feet, the Royal Suite offers a large living space separated from the sleeping area of the cabin with a room divider which houses one of the stateroom's televisions. Around the room divider you'll find a relaxing place to sleep or stretch out on your comfortable king size bed.

A great feature of most staterooms on Avalon Waterways' river cruise ships in Europe is that the bed in this stateroom faces out through a wall of glass to the views outside. The wall of glass includes a large sliding glass door which opens to a french balcony railing, making your entire stateroom an indoor/outdoor al fresco balcony room whenever you want.

The bathroom in the Royal Suite is a modern, split bath design. The main bath area features double sinks with plenty of counter space and shelves above the sink on either side, as well as, all along the back of the sink, which is also mirrored. The shower in the Royal Suite is the largest shower offered in the guest rooms of an Avalon ship. The shower can be so large because the watercloset is in a separate room, which offers a mirror and another small sink.

If you're not staying in a Royal Suite (of which you'll find several on each Avalon Waterways European river cruise ship), you may want to consider either the prevalent stateroom - the Panorama Suite - which is the topic of our next episode. Or, stay tuned in this episode, as I also share with you the layout and features of the Standard Staterooms on the Avalon Imagery II. These Standard Staterooms are found on the lower passenger deck level, roughly at the water level. Based on that, the two windows in these staterooms are transom level windows which let in light but they cannot be opened based on the height of the river running alongside your ship. Although a little smaller than the Panorama Suites or the Royal Suite on the upper decks, these Standard Staterooms provide plenty of closet and shelf storage space, a large desk, TV, refrigerator and a shower in the bath which features upgraded bath products for your enjoyment! Every stateroom guest enjoys the same common areas of the ship - the restaurant, the Panorama lounge, Sun Deck, and the lovely Club Lounge with a 24/7 coffee/tea/treats station.
