Title: DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING SYSTEM TRAINER

Abstract: Automotive technology is one of the critical courses in some universities and private colleges that really in need of attention. For the automotive students, electricity seems to be the most common problem because nowadays, there is already an advancement of technology and new vehicles are having more complex electrical and electronic components. Indeed, it is very important for the students to understand how to operate electrical systems. This study sought to design and construct an Automotive Lighting System Trainer as an instructional training material for students taking automotive courses. The project was designed to provide hands-on instruction in analyzing and practicing the actual automotive lighting system connections that lessen their difficulties in understanding electrical wiring. The descriptive-developmental method of research is used to determine the effectiveness and workability of the trainer in real application. The Automotive Lighting System Trainer was evaluated according to its extent of quality by the students, instructors and other experts. It was evaluated based on (7) criteria such as Performance, Features, Reliability, Conformance, Durability, Serviceable and Aesthetic. It was rated by 30 respondents from the academe and industry. The results showed an overall rating of 3.89 with a descriptive rating of “Excellent”. It is proved that the device is useful for the industry and school laboratory. Also, it is revealed that it is technically feasible to construct an Automotive Lighting System Trainer considering the benefits that the students may gain and the availability of the materials and supplies for its construction. It also displayed accurate lighting system circuit connections and demonstrated full functionality. Thus, it is therefore recommended that the school administration may strengthen research innovation that enhances the students’ performance.
