Yamaha XV535 Virago - Recommissioning (Part 12) Carburetor Removal, Full Clean / Service, and Refit

Описание к видео Yamaha XV535 Virago - Recommissioning (Part 12) Carburetor Removal, Full Clean / Service, and Refit

In this twelth part in our video diary of the recommissioning work that we're doing on our 1997 Yamaha XV535 Virago project bike, we have a second go at sorting the carbs, by removing them, servicing, and then refitting.

We'd previously cleaned them in-situ but on our test ride, we found that she was mis-firing when the choke was off, and the throttle was released.

This is a lengthy video as we try to include the process of removing the carbs and the very tricky process of refitting them.

Hopefully, you can find what you're looking for in this video, especially the not too well covered subject of the airbox intake rubbers.

They fit around the airbox with two rubber flanges. To remove them, you need to push the lower flange up in to the air box, and then the carbs are easy to slide out.

To refit the carbs, you need to slide them in and then push the lower flange back out of the airbox, as you slide the rubbers over the carbs. The front rubber is not too bad but the back one is tricky unless you have real small hands and very strong fingers.

If you know of a better technique then please let us know. There is a guy who trussed the rubber up with string but it did not work for us.

Anyway, we've got her back together and she fired up easily and ran well...now for the next test ride...
