In the year 2025, Akhanteros began his ascent to power in the Altian region. Shortly after assuming office, the ceasefire between the FIA party and the AAF broke down, leading to escalating tensions. His brutal conduct toward the local populace caused NATO to withdraw its mandate, and soon after, Task Force Aegis was dissolved. Locals who defied his reign formed small militia cells under the banner of the FIA, but their efforts to combat Akhanteros's forces proved futile. Outgunned and outnumbered, they hoped for foreign intervention.

Witnessing his oppression of the people, NATO council approved a redeployment to Altis. Before sending the main incursion force, a small US Marine team was dispatched to eliminate one of Akhanteros's closest advisors.
