I Broke a Rail Today Tamping on Curve 14!

Описание к видео I Broke a Rail Today Tamping on Curve 14!

Second broken rail in this section this year. This one is almost opposite
to the last rail. Got to get rid of the mud under the ties! This is my next curve
to crib out. Curve 13 has been cribbed and tamped, now will start cribbing on this curve,
as you will see, it desperately needs it. There has been a slow order on curve 13 and 14
until we can get both curves up to snuff.

If you notice on the clip of where I'm standing on the field side of the rail, looking
at the break, to the left of it is a white spot on the rail. That spot is where the
tamper jackbeam clamp lifted the rail. It's white because there must have been
a piece of ballast that the clamp crushed when clamping.

When you break a rail with the tamper it sounds like a shotgun going off! Pandrol Jackson
representatives used to say, "We don't charge extra for finding the weak spots in a rail." LOL

On the last break, the rail head wasn't bad at all, on this break the chipped out piece
on the rail head warranted us to replace the rail rather than just put joint bars on it.
This section of track has had a slow order on it for some time, we've just had so
many other issues to address that haven't been able to get up here. Lot's of videos
coming out soon to show you some of the other problems we've been dealing with.
But, that's railroadin!
