The Claim
During a symposium in Beijing on December 30, 2025, Wang Yi listed the "tensions between Pakistan and India" as one of several global "hotspot issues" where China intervened to facilitate peace. He argued that China took an "objective and just stance" to address the root causes of the conflict.
India’s Response
The Indian government has firmly rejected China's claim. According to official sources from the Ministry of External Affairs:
Direct Military Channels: India maintains that the ceasefire, which began on May 10, 2025, was achieved through direct communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan.
No Third-Party Role: India reiterated its long-standing policy that all issues with Pakistan are bilateral and do not involve third-party mediation (similar to how India rejected US President Donald Trump’s earlier claims of mediation).
Conflict Context: Indian officials noted the irony of the claim, pointing out that China provided roughly 81% of Pakistan's military hardware and real-time intelligence during the conflict, which India dubbed Operation Sindoor.

India and Pakistan have a complex and largely hostile relationship that is rooted in a multitude of historical and political events, most notably the partition of British India in August 1947.

In addition to this was the unofficial Kargil War in 1999 and some border skirmishes.

He was formerly an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and ran for for the office of Secretary-General in 2006, coming second.

Narendra Damodardas Modi[a] (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician who has served as the prime minister of India since 2014. Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the member of parliament (MP) for Varanasi. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He is the longest-serving prime minister outside the Indian National Congress.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is a conservative political party in India and one of the two major Indian political parties alongside the Indian National Congress.[42] BJP emerged out from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's Bharatiya Jana Sangh.[43] Since 2014, it has been the ruling political party in India under the incumbent prime minister Narendra Modi.[44] The BJP is right-wing to far-right on the political spectrum, and it has close ideological and organisational links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The party's policies adhere to Hindutva, a Hindu nationalist ideology. As of January 2024, it is the country's biggest political party in terms of representation in the parliament as well as state legislatures.
