The Metanium MGL is packed with Shimano technology, most notably the Magnumlite (MGL) Spool. The MGL spool creates a very low moment of inertia - requiring 10% less energy to turn the reel, which in turn improves your casting distance. We've also updated the braking system to the New SVS Infinity system, giving you reduced noise, less maintenance, and a great range in dial adjustments on the water.

The new Metanium MGL's rigid, metal Hagane Body virtually eliminates any body flexing and turns your actions directly into cranking power.

Giving you that superior smoothness is the new SilentTune, which reduces spool vibration! The Micro-Module Gear System also gives anglers extreme smoothness from super-refined gear teeth. Our X-Ship technology supports the Metanium MGL's pinion gear - keeping it in precise alignment with the drive gear so the gears stay strong and in position even under the heaviest loads!
