Are you looking for a working example of explicit messaging for Ethernet/IP protocol? The General Purpose Library (GPL) in EcoStruxure Control Expert (formerly known as Unity Pro) includes a solution that greatly simplifies implementing this type of communication. These function blocks, pre-designed and maintained by Schneider Electric, help to correctly manage the number of simultaneous messages sent from a Modicon controller.

At the same time, transferring the parameters for class, instance and attribute of the required data is done by transferring these values directly into the GPL function block’s input pins, removing the complexities associated to setting up arrays or similar structures.
