Usually the custom mode Countdown is made to cap the total hit points at 10 and the laps only go up to 8 (both were a designer's choice as well as balancing).
However, I was trying to find a way in Countdown v2.0's code to go up to 9 laps instead, so old-fashioned me decided to throw the code in a hex editor and see what I can change (changing a value of "8" into a "9", trial 'n error (you know I can't code and I still have no idea how to recompile xD))... And one number seems to skip the instruction for the cap limit...??

Mind you, this was just to find out to change the total of laps. But this was certainly a surprise! Especially considering it doesn't only skip the point limit, but also the total time bonus limit.

I also showcase my custom Countdown HUD where - instead of numbers - you just count the dots. At one point I thought changing the points UI element into F-ZERO's kill counter, but for now I thought just keeping the skull icon in place of the axe shall do it for now. Of course I gave it custom animations for the lap counter so that it loads different textures (as normally the lap number and the points number use the same texture).
This custom UI was an old one from 2020 but now I thought it was about time to change it a bit, now that I know a bit more about .brlan files, I just gave it another look.

No, I'm not here to ruin Countdown Mode for anyone, but I do share a few things I thought was neat. :)

And yes, more progress has been made for the Unrestricted Vehicle Combo mod, which is what I'm showcasing here (at the time this video was uploaded, we have 6 characters fully done (Dry Bones, Luigi, Waluigi, Funky Kong, large Mii Outfit C (both male and female)).

Also... Countdown works offline!?
