In commemoration of the seminal events of 1968, the In Series
celebrates the spirit and significance of Washington DC’s Black Broadway with a revival of this acclaimed 2009
production. "Take the A-Train" from a thriving scene on U Street to the roaring nightlife of Harlem's Cotton Club - from gospel to jazz, this joint will definitely be jumpin'! Playwright Sybil Williams weaves a story of courageous people in turbulent times, told with the defining music of the age: songs by Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, and others.

Join us two hours before each show for a walking tour of the monuments and murals of Black Broadway with local historian Timothy Wright of AttucksAdams. This tour, curated exclusively for In Series audiences in order to provide context for the songs and experiences shared in the production, begins at the Source and ends at U Street landmark Ben's Chili Bowl in time to enjoy a meal before the show.
