Our Lady of Guadalupe » Oil Painting Time-lapse by Tianna Williams

Almost a decade ago, when I painted Mary for the very first time, I modelled the colours of her robes after Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her image was at the centre of my childhood home, so she has always had a special place in my life. 

Since that first painting, I have waited for the opportunity to revisit this devotion. When deciding on a gift for family friends, I recalled the missionary work they have done in Mexico. It seemed like a good fit!

I had also wanted to try painting with gold paint for ages, and this was an excellent opportunity to do so. I absolutely love how it turned out.

The gold truly makes the image come alive. It is hard to capture that dynamic quality with a photo.
