Descended from a family of traditional musicians. Learning to play guitar at young age, in 1980 started to study eastern music and culture. Still at 80..s he began his studies in Ragas, Classical Indian Music under guidance of Mrs Meeta Ravindra, your godmother, a Indian singer based in Brazil. Raj also had studied with Ravi Shankar and Anoushka, Vilayat Khan, Imrat Khan, Debu Chaundhuri ( University of Music in delhi ), Krishna Chakravarty ( From Banaras Hindu University Varanasi ), Shiva Kumar Shastri, Jagdeep Singh Bedi ( Gandharva Mahavidyalaya School of Music in Delhi ). In 1987 started to play sitar as artist and did performances in many different places in Brazil and around world. Dhaivat Raj had been in India several times to research and develops his career. Indian Consulate in Brazil honored him in 1997, at Independency of India Celebration, for his great work with classical Indian music in major talent of sitar in Brazil. Graduated in ¨Meend¨& techniques for the sitar, surbahar and rudra veena in the famous Gandharva Mahavidyalaya School of Music in Delhi. Dhaivat Raj is luthier, professional sitar player and teacher School Raj Gharana. Introducer of authentic Indian sitar & surbahar and exotic sitar in Brazil. His works are global, in Brazil, Delhi, Agra, Vrindavan, Varanasi, London, Amman, Petra, Cairo, etc... in the atmosphere of the ¨yogswar¨.
