'Call Centers Could Quickly Be Driven Out Of Business Due To AI': Dr. Geeta Gopinath

In an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Dr. Geeta Gopinath, the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, offered insights into the impact of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the future of employment worldwide. She estimated that roughly 40% of jobs globally are vulnerable due to AI. Interestingly, she mentioned that AI could have both positive and negative impacts on various sectors. The most significant revelation was her warning about the potential of AI technology making call centers obsolete, which could have substantial impacts on India's job market. India's exposure to AI in terms of jobs is relatively lower at around 30% due to the significant number of workers in the agricultural sector.
