The government has announces a number of new proposals and reforms to the employment law system.

These are said to be the most radical reforms to the system for decades.

Workers rights and job security is under threat as small businesses with less than 10 people will be able to sack workers without allowing them to claim for unfair dismissal.

The staff would only be entitled to a cash compensation under the 'no fault dismissal plan' which is being reviewed by the government

The employment law review is bad news for redundancies . The consultation period for collective redundancy, when 20 or more jobs are cut, is to be reduced from a 90 day period to 30 days

Under the new reforms the qualifying period for unfair dismissal will increase from 12 months to two years as of April next year.


There will also be a consultation on employment tribunal fees whereby the government is considering the option of getting people to pay for claims.
