Marie Claire Dusabe is a passionate scientist and conservation biologist who is leading bat research and conservation project in Rwanda with award winning organization Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association (RWCA). Claire is successfully developing effective methods to generate the information needed to help protect threatened bat species in Rwanda.

Claire has devoted huge amounts of time and energy to developing this program from the ground up, including training volunteers, carrying out fieldwork in highly challenging conditions, leading community outreach activities, and developing conservation strategies based on the results of their work. Claire studied in bachelor of Wildlife and Aquatic Resources
Management at the University of Rwanda and went on to receive a Masters in Natural Resources Ecology, Management and Conservation from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. Before joining RWCA, Claire was an independent researcher; she worked on 68 rivers belonging to Congo basin at Rwandan side to assess water quality and identify macro-invertebrate diversity. With bat project, some of her main duties are to identify and quantify the ecosystem services bats provide, raise awareness about the important role of bats and support the conservation of them and their habitats. Her dream to come true would be
to see 100% of people changing negative attitudes toward bats as well as recognizing the value bats have to people and environment.
