EGG CUSTARD


3 eggs
1 cup milk
2 Tablespoons butter (softened)
2 ½ Tablespoons self-rising flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
Nutmeg (optional for dusting on top prior to baking)
1 Deep Dish Pie Crust - see my Oil Pie Crust Video (link below) for an easy recipe.

Preheat the oven to 400°

Using a batter bowl or large mixing bowl, beat eggs, self-rising flour, and sugar until well combined with a wire whisk. Add softened butter and mix to incorporate. Then add milk and vanilla. Blend all ingredients and pour into a pre-baked deep dish pie crust. Optional – Sprinkle the top lightly with nutmeg before baking.


Bake for 10 minutes at 400° and then reduce the oven temperature to 350° and bake for 25-35 minutes or until the center is set. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.


** Be sure to check the pie after about 20 minutes or excessive browning around the edges. If the pie is starting to brown, lightly tent parchment paper or aluminum foil over the top.
