Today's Catholic Mass Readings & Gospel Reflection - Tuesday, May 28, 2024

Reading 1: 1 Pt 1:10-16
Resp: Ps 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4
Gospel: Mark 10:28-31

Tuesday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Lectionary: 348

Reading 1: 1 Pt 1:10-16
Beloved: About this salvation, the prophets inquired and diligently searched, those who prophesied about the future grace in you, inquiring as to what type of condition was signified to them by the Spirit of Christ, when foretelling those sufferings that are in Christ, as well as the subsequent glories. To them, it was revealed that they were ministering, not for themselves, but for you those things which have now been announced to you through those who have preached the Gospel to you, through the Holy Spirit, who was sent down from heaven to the One upon whom the Angels desire to gaze.

For this reason, gird the waist of your mind, be sober, and hope perfectly in the grace that is offered to you in the revelation of Jesus Christ. Be like sons of obedience, not conforming to the desires of your former ignorance, but in accord with him who has called you: the Holy One. And in every behavior, you yourself must be holy, for it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am Holy.”

Responsorial Psalm: Ps 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4
R. (2a) The Lord has made known his salvation.

Sing to the Lord a new song: because he has done wonderful things. His right hand has wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy.
R. The Lord has made known his salvation.

The Lord has made known his salvation: he has revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles .He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel.
R. The Lord has made known his salvation.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Sing joyfully to God, all the earth; make melody, rejoice and sing.
R. The Lord has made known his salvation.

Alleluia: See Mt 11:25
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you
have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel: Mark 10:28-31
And Peter began to say to him, “Behold, we have left all things and have followed you.” In response, Jesus said: “Amen I say to you, there is no one who has left behind house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or land, for my sake and for the Gospel, who will not receive one hundred times as much, now in this time: houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land, with persecutions, and in the future age eternal life. But many of the first shall be last, and the last shall be first.”
