Between 1920 and 1923, the quiet seaside town of Littlehampton in southern England was shaken by a disturbing scandal. Dozens of anonymous letters filled with obscene language and false accusations terrorised local residents.

At the centre of the case were two women — Edith Swan, a laundress, and Rose Gooding, her neighbour and former friend. Through lies, forged letters and false prosecutions, Rose Gooding was wrongly convicted and imprisoned twice for a crime she did not commit.

Only after a deeper investigation by Scotland Yard was the truth uncovered, exposing one of the most shocking miscarriages of justice in British history.
