James Hargreaves developed the Spinning Jenny in 1764. The machine was a development in spinning technology that led directly to the industrial textile revolution first in England and then across the world. Today his achievement is celebrated in historic Stanhill Village, Lancashire, where he lived and worked and which boasts a dedicated website, a heritage trail, talks and demonstrations, and a reproduction of the Spinning Jenny made from Hargreaves' original patent drawings.
