One of the greatest Japanese animators to ever do it and my personal favorite animator as well! I know there are tons of MADs of him already and this probably isn’t even the best MAD of his stuff out there, but regardless I definitely wanted to make one for my favorite animator. I love his distinct timing and posing (as he is a Kanada style animator after all) and because of that, my immediate thought was to use Bad For Me by Official HIGE DANdism for the MAD. It’s very uplifting and bouncy and works very well with the timing in his cuts, so it’s really satisfying to see how well the clips synced up with the song. That being said, Kameda worked on a TON of shows, and so one MAD wasn’t enough, and thus I made two. The first being Bad For Me as initially intended and the second being Chester Copperpot by sumika. Chester Copperpot is a very hype song, so I wanted to focus on the fights he’s animated for this one, whereas for Bad For Me, I wanted more of an emphasis on Kameda’s amazing character acting, although there definitely are fights that I used in this one too. One thing that surprised me while making this MAD is there weren’t that many Mob Psycho 100 clips as I would’ve thought. Mob is my favorite anime and it’s how I learned about Kameda, but while he’s heavily involved the character designs and correcting over people’s art to match the presentation of the anime, there weren’t as many key animations strictly animated by Kameda as I thought. Something that also surprised me was how easy it was to make the second MAD compared to the first. I guess it makes sense cuz Chester Copperpot is a hype song but I initially just imported all of the clips in order of Booru score and quite a few of them just happened to fit well, like the FMAB OP5 to Un-Go clips and the Asura’s Wrath to Pokémon S&M clips. Although I will say I feel like I basically turned most of the second MAD into an FMAB MAD (while not having finished FMAB either) but at the very least it made me want to start it up again.
I’m looking forward to his work on Yaiba and Dandadan in the future. I think he’ll be more involved with Yaiba since he’s now in house at WIT, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see
