Walking to planetary citizenship | Lorenzo Romito | TEDxRoma

Lorenzo Romito, through the use of the myth, immerses us in a new reading of reality made of immigration and contamination. We have always been and always will be traveling; and it is precisely the possibility of the journey that has enabled people to be what they are today. The same Europe and even before Rome owe their greatness and dimension to the uncontainable need of man to move, to migrate, to explore new territories. So today, as in ancient Rome, we are all part of a great planetary citizenship, but only through the awareness of this global dimension and of a common destiny can we undertake a change that is neutral, free and inclusive.

Lorenzo Romito attraverso l’uso del mito ci immerge in una lettura nuova della realtà fatta di immigrazione e contaminazione. Siamo sempre stati e sempre saremo in viaggio; ed è proprio la possibilità del viaggio che ha consentito alle popolazioni di essere ciò che sono oggi. La stessa Europa e ancora prima Roma devono la loro grandezza e dimensione all’incontenibile esigenza dell’uomo di spostarsi, di migrare, di esplorare nuovi territori. Oggi dunque, come nell’antica Roma, siamo di fatto tutti parte di una grande cittadinanza planetaria, ma solo attraverso la presa di coscienza di questa dimensione globale e di un destino comune possiamo intraprendere un cambiamento che sia neutrale, libero e inclusivo.
Lorenzo Romito is an architect, independent researcher, curator, artist and activist. He developed his work through art, architecture and cultural, environmental, social and urban studies. He had various working experiences: he was co-author of a laboratory, like Stalker laboratory of urban art and researches on territory in 1995, and Stalker Walking School in 2012. He also had many educational experiences, including teaching, walks, seminars and workshops with international schools such as Parsons the New School of Design New York.

Lorenzo Romito è architetto e ricercatore indipendente, curatore, artista e attivista. Ha sviluppato e strutturato il suo lavoro tra arte, architettura e studi culturali, ambientali, sociali e urbani. Tra le diverse esperienze è stato coautore di laboratori come quello di Stalker di arte urbana e ricerca sul territorio nel 1995e di Stalker Walking school nel 2012. Ha inoltre avuto importanti esperienze nell’ambito educativo sia come insensate che come redattore di workshop e seminari in scuole Internazionali come la Parsons New School of Design di New York.
