A coalition of political movements, civic initiatives, and community actors in the city of Misrata has firmly rejected attempts to drag the city into the political conflict taking place in the capital, Tripoli. In a joint statement, they accused supporters of the expired Government of National Unity of exploiting the name of Misrata to pursue narrow interests related to power and personal gain. They condemned the use of state tools and public institutions to spread hatred and ignite discord and division within the city.

The community forces called on the Municipal Council to reject all actions that hinder the organization of peaceful demonstrations. They also held those responsible for such violations accountable for any potential escalation, urging the immediate intervention of the Security Directorate and the Central Military Region to secure and safeguard the peaceful nature of the protests.

In their statement, the groups further demanded the disbanding of militias involved in kidnapping, torture, and abuses against opponents. They emphasized the need for decisive action against those responsible, without excuses or delays. The statement concluded by affirming that the Unity Government has lost both national and international legitimacy and is now part of the past.
