Groove Agent Tips Ep.03 - Building and Editing Pattern Banks

In this series of videos I cover various features of Groove Agent - Steinberg's own Drum Synth (VST). It's very powerful, and integrates very deeply with Cubase, but it's a bit of a handful. Hopefully I can help unlock some of its mysteries for you.

In this episode I talk about Pattern Banks, and their relationship with the kit sounds from the various preset kits. I explain how I transform patterns from one kit into another, and how I generate a consistent feel & groove that gives me inspiration when building a drum track for my song.

About me:

My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician and a songwriter. I've created this channel - One Man and His Songs - in order to share with you everything I learn as I strive to improve my songwriting skills. I play the electric and acoustic guitar, and the bass guitar, and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.

All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase. It is my intention to build a library of tutorial series concerning both Cubase itself and also the software, instruments and tools within it that I most enjoy using. All of my tutorial videos will focus strictly on being PRACTICAL guides - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about :)

I want to build a community of music-lovers with whom I can share my experiences, and from whom I can gain valuable feedback as I pursue my dream of learning to write great songs. I really hope you'll join me on my journey!
