We’re in Tagaytay, located just a few hours from Manila. It’s a top travel destination in the Philippines, known for its cool climate, stunning views of Taal Volcano, and diverse dining options. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers, foodies, and those seeking a relaxing escape from the city hustle. Although we are here for all of the above, the main reason is Bulalo!
Bulalo is a traditional Filipino beef stew made with tender beef shank, bone marrow, and a variety of vegetables such as corn, potatoes, and cabbage. Known for its rich, flavourful broth, it's a comforting dish often enjoyed on cold days or during family gatherings—perfect for those craving hearty, savoury comfort food. And we’ve been told, “If you go to Tagaytay, you have to have it!”
We arrived in the town after taking the local morning bus from Manila, and we quickly stretched our legs before hopping on a jeepney. We headed in the direction of the restaurant we had found, called “Bulalo Point,” which had some great reviews on Google.
We struggled with the menu slightly because we were unsure whether we needed to order one Bulalo each, but the staff told us that one bowl would serve 2-3 people.
It was honestly one of the best meals we had eaten in the Philippines. Even writing about it now, a few days later, is making our mouths water. We will definitely have it again, and if you haven’t tried it, you know what to do!

ABOUT US
We have been backpacking round Asia since October 2023 after leaving our apartment, jobs and country. We flew to Bangkok and decided to do something that nobody has EVER done before… start a travel vlog (😴). We are absolutely ‘blagging’ our way through this adventure, with no SIM cards and a secret love for getting lost. This is all documented on our YouTube channel - not just the ‘best bits’!
“BLAG” = A British slang word, to accomplish or execute something without sufficient preparation or experience; improvise.
