One of the most beautiful lakes to visit in Dolomites is the Lago di Braies. It is a bright blue mountain lake that has become a popular photography spot over the years. If you are planning a visit to this lake, then here is what you need to know.

📅 Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Lago di Braies is in the summer season when the lake is surrounded by green, lush mountains and it is warm enough to enjoy boating and spending time beside the lake.

Note: The altitude of the Lake is 1,496 m

➡️ What to Do Here

🛥️ Boating - Of course, one of the best things to do in Lago do Braies is boating. You can get boat rentals for 35 Euros an hour. It is open from 10 AM to 5:30 PM every day and each boat can have 4 passengers max.

🥾 Hiking - There is a hiking loop around the lake that circles it and offers stunning views. Currently, it was under construction but if it is open, you should definitely complete this hike.

🧺 Picnic - If you want to just relax, then there are many picnic spots to enjoy around the lake. You can take your lunch and a good book and spend 4-5 hours easily here.

➡️ How to Reach Lago do Braies

Assuming you are starting from Bruneck, it takes only 1.5 hours to reach Lago di Braies using public transportation.

Take the regional train to Niederdorf - Prags and then bus number 442 to Lago do Braies. There are scheduled timings for the bus and train so plan your visit beforehand.
