Hi there my name is Ruth and I am here for a little motivational tip this week. I want to challenge the way that you view your body weight.
Many people are over occupied by how much they weigh. It's like they have this imaginary number that hovers over their head which represents their ideal body weight.
Many times, as we go through our day, we allow that imaginary number affects the way we make our decisions. For example, if we go out for coffee with a friend, and look at all the menu items feeling as though we need to restrict ourselves because that number hovering over our head is over occupying our thoughts and keeping us from enjoying our day.
Another example is if we have items of clothes that we would like to fit into. We can try on clothes in the sizes that we think we typically are and discover that it's a bit too snug. Instead of trying another size up, you feel bad about yourself and you just leave the item there and walk out of the store.
I have a question or you. Has this ideal body weight restrict how happy you are in life? That is typically what it comes down to. Do you often say to yourself, "I will be happy if I can just fit into this outfit?", or "I will be happy if I can be X amount of weight, or go down to this size?" If that is you then you are being too over occupied about your weight. Why not be happy regardless of your weight or size?
As yourself this question. Have you restricted yourself from eating something you wanted to have because that magical number hovering over year head was constantly nagging you? Have you felt incredibly guilty after having something you felt you shouldn't have.
Why do we do that to ourselves? Has the media shaped the way we feel about our weight so much that is restricts how happy we are in life and with ourselves.
Ask yourself this question. How happy do you think these Hollywood stars are simply because they are at their ideal body weight?
Media has really shaped how we think about ourselves. I want to challenge you to be aware of your thoughts that you have regarding your weight. If you are out for coffee, or at someone's birthday party trying to have some fun with your friends and that imaginary number starts nagging at you. I need you to stop, and realize that you are putting unnecessary restrictions on your own happiness. Choose to be happy anyway, regardless of what you weigh right now, and you will find that lie becomes much easier to live.
