Two giant albums were released in 1984. Iron Maiden’s Powerslave and Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Welcome To The Pleasuredome.

Both were British, camp and brilliant.

And they shared something else in common.

Both featured their own epic track based on the poetry of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. And both clocked in at almost exactly 13 minutes and 40 seconds.

Rime of the Ancient Mariner was written in 1798 and told the story of an an old sailor who is compelled to tell strangers about the supernatural adventures that befell him at sea.

Kubla Khan, written one night in 1797 after Coleridge experienced an opium-influenced dream. The poem describes Kubla Khan's pleasure dome built alongside a sacred river fed by a powerful fountain.

So anyway, yeah. I made a mashup out of them.
