There are two main types of rhinoplasty: closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty. In this video, Dr. Sanchez-Navarro explains the differences between both approaches and when each may be recommended.

Closed rhinoplasty involves placing all incisions inside the nose, making them completely hidden. Open rhinoplasty uses a very small incision across the thinnest part of the nose, which fades over time and typically becomes unnoticeable.

Dr. Sanchez-Navarro explains that closed rhinoplasty is often used for smaller procedures or when only a few corrections are needed. While some surgeons can perform more complex changes using the closed approach, he prefers the open approach in his practice. Because many of his patients present with multiple concerns, the open technique allows him to effectively address a variety of issues at the same time.
