Velankanni , is a Special Grade Panchayat Town in Nagapattinam district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Town is home to one of the most visited Latin Catholic Shrines called the Basilica of Our Lady Of Good Health, also known as Our Lady Of Velankanni is a tittle given to the Blessed Vergin Mary by devotees , she is said to have appeared twice in the town of Velankanni ,in the 16th to 17th centuries.The town was among the worst hit by the tsunami caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake,
