Thiocolchicoside is used as an adjuvant treatment for painful muscular contractions in adult. It is also indicated for the acute condition related to spinal column.
Mechanism of Action
Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant possessing GABA mimetic and glycinergic action. It acts by inhibition the action of cyclo-oxygenase in the body, thereby reducing the pain and swelling.
Uses
Backache, neuralgia, pain, parkinsonism, sciatic pain,
Dosage
Oral:- 8mg BID/ maximum 16mg/D
Inj:- 2mg bid for 3-5 days maximum 8mg
Side Effects
Headache, nausea, gastralgia, diarrhea, skin rashes, hypotension, temporary loss of consciousness, excitation, photosensitivity reactions.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Thiocolchicoside related. Pregnancy and lactation breast feeding, anticoagulant therapy and in patients bleeding. CNS depressant, hypotension, elderly patients.
