If there's a ledge to perch and sing from, you can guarantee a Western Flycatcher will find it an sing its little squeak-song over and over, stopping only occasionally to dart into the air to live up its name, quickly catching a fly, and settling back down for more.

Previously identified as its own species, the Pacific-slope Flycatcher along with its sibling clade, the Cordilleran Flycatcher, has recently been re-classified as a subspecies of the Western Flycatcher bringing the total number of Western Flycatcher subspecies up to five in total.
