A long time ago, in a beautiful kingdom called Babylon, there lived a wise and kind man named Daniel. Daniel loved Yah (God) with all his heart and prayed to Him three times every day. No matter what happened, Daniel always trusted Yah.

Now, Daniel worked for the king of Babylon, King Darius. The king liked Daniel very much because Daniel was honest, smart, and hardworking. In fact, the king was planning to put Daniel in charge of the whole kingdom!

But not everyone was happy about this.

Some of the other leaders were jealous of Daniel. They said, “We have to find a way to get Daniel in trouble!” But Daniel never did anything wrong. So they came up with a tricky plan.

They went to King Darius and said, “O great king, we think you should make a new law. For the next 30 days, no one should pray to anyone except you, Your Majesty. If they do, they must be thrown into the lions’ den!”

The king liked the idea of people honoring him, so he signed the law. But he didn’t realize it would hurt his friend Daniel.

When Daniel heard about the new law, he didn’t get scared. He didn’t hide. He went straight to his room, opened his windows, and prayed to Yah just like he always did.

The jealous leaders rushed to tell the king. “Daniel is breaking your new law! He’s still praying to his God!”

King Darius was sad. He liked Daniel and didn’t want to punish him, but the law could not be changed.

So Daniel was taken to the lions’ den. The king said, “I hope your God, whom you serve so faithfully, will rescue you.”

Then the stone was rolled over the mouth of the den, and Daniel was left with the big, hungry lions.

That night, the king couldn’t sleep. He didn’t eat. He just worried and prayed that Daniel would be okay.

As soon as the sun came up, King Darius ran to the lions’ den and called out, “Daniel! Has your God saved you from the lions?”

Then the king heard a voice—Daniel’s voice!

“Yes, O king!” Daniel said. “My God sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths. They didn’t hurt me at all!”

The king was overjoyed! He ordered Daniel to be lifted out of the den. Not even a scratch was on him—because he had trusted in Yah.

Then King Darius made a new law that said everyone should respect and honor the God of Daniel, because He is the living God who saves and protects His people.

From that day on, Daniel kept praying, kept trusting, and kept doing what was right.

And Yah was always with him.
