A battle royale game is an online multiplayer video game genre that blends last-man-standing gameplay with the survival, exploration and scavenging elements of a survival game. The Battle Royale genre has been around for a long time. If you’re a wrestling fan, and you don’t need to be shy about it, it is a type of match where the last man standing wins by throwing everyone else off the top rope. There was even a Japanese movie with the same title where the concept of the last person remaining is the theme of the movie. Then, going over to videogames, this genre exploded around the mid 2010s’. People will argue that the game H1Z1: King of the Hill later renamed Z1 Battle Royale started the whole trend. Unfortunately, the game fell off but its successors are worthy enough to carry on the Battle Royale genre.
