Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Fast Way to Open Value Field Settings in a Pivot Table.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel netcast, where we bring you the best tips and tricks for mastering Excel. In this episode, we will be discussing a faster way to access the value field settings in pivot tables. As always, I am your host, Bill Jelen.

During a recent seminar in Huntsville, Alabama, I was demonstrating how to create a pivot table with multiple instances of the same field in the values area. This is a common scenario, but it can be time-consuming to change the settings for each individual field. That's where our new trick comes in.

Instead of clicking on the column and then navigating to the field settings, all you have to do is double-click on the heading. This will take you directly to the field settings for that column. This may seem like a small change, but it can save you a lot of time and effort when working with pivot tables.

But that's not all. We also have a few other tips and tricks to share with you. For example, if you want to rename a field to something that is already in use, simply add a space after the name. This will allow you to use the same name without any conflicts.

We will also show you how to create a percentage of column total, a rank, and a percentage running total in a pivot table. These are all useful calculations that can provide valuable insights into your data. And with our new shortcut, accessing these settings is now easier than ever.

I want to give a special thanks to Becky in Huntsville for sharing this amazing trick with us. And as always, don't forget to click on the "i" in the top-right corner to access more helpful tips and tricks. Thank you for watching and we'll see you in the next episode of Power Excel with MrExcel.
