Part of my learning journey as a Youtube-based musician: I have moved from recording guitar, bass and a drum track (in the room) with an android phone; to recording the sound-track using a condenser microphone with USB straight to Audacity on the computer; to this latest step, buying unboxing and trying out a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface with my bass guitar.

A good video to watch if you are intending to start making Youtube videos - but haven't quite started yet.
