1. This cut CANNOT be performed in Time Trial due to the player starting on the right EVERYTIME.
2. The cut can only be performed if you start on the left for the race, this is because performing the cut DOESN’T skip the finish line.
3. It is theoretically possible to get all 3 of your runs spawn on the left, making every run eligible for the cut
4. The cut involves 2-3 resets depending on which lap you perform the skip on, if you perform the cut on the first lap or you didn’t perform the cut a lap prior you will have to do 2 resets, however if you do the skip the lap after you’ve already done a skip, you will have to do 3 resets.
5. The cut saves approximately 28s for the first execution, and 25s for every execution after because on the lap after execution, you get respawned while driving the track on the intended route, however you can always perform the cut again after your first attempt.
6. Car Choice and Car Class does NOT affect the repeatability of the cut itself or the RNG of which side you’re starting the race on. (just an “okay captain obvious” for those who may think otherwise).
7. DON’T just turn left when the barriers end after the jump to reset, the game will still believe you are on the intended route. Instead, you need to go off the track just before the temporary barriers start.
8. DON’T go left when attempting to go onto the unintended route, the game will not reset you if you go that way and instead it will believe you are just going in reverse on the track.
9. The position of the person / AI you’re racing against DOESN’T affect the respawns.
10. This cut does NOT affect the routing for any% runs or Season% runs, it only saves time across the run (upto 2 mins for any%, upto 3 mins for Max%).
11. The side in which you spawn on doesn't appear to be RNG, however i am yet to find the variable that controls it. This is a hypothesis based on patterns seen between both my main and alt account, with my main starting on the left every time in DiRT Tour races but my alt have a fixed chance of 2 left hand starts and 1 right hand start, i don't know if that's driver level, car chosen, livery used, etc. etc. etc. but i'm finding patterns that have a cause that i haven't identified yet.
Cut Guide (for those who can’t watch a simple video):
1. Assuming you’re starting left in the race, you will want to travel on the intended route until after the jump
2. After the jump you will want to go off the track just before the start of the temporary Head 2 Head barriers (the left of the track, AFTER the large sponsor signs).
3. After you’ve reset, turn around and jump off the wrong way of the jump (you’ll want to go right), this will put you down to the bottom end of the lap, continue that route until you reset.
4. After you’ve reset again, continue on the new, cut route until you cross the finish line, completing the lap.
Less relevant comments:
There are other cuts discovered that have not yet been performed in any% context or likely not performed in a single run context either (Michigan is a solid example), I will be looking into those, as well as other unknown cuts that were performed in the PS3 but were dismissed as cheated rather than cut.
Over the next couple days I will scrub the PS3 leaderboards for other cuts such as this just in case if the person who first discovered this has found other cuts just like it, the Overall WR for this vehicle class and car is approximately a 1:05.6 done by TF4U_-Bloodsoul- done on the PS3, my run is 1 of only 2 recorded for this cut after my extensive research as of writing this (17th/10th/2025).
