It's no secret that Amazon enjoys testing ideas....and testing to Amazon can cost millions/billions of dollars to garner data.

Perhaps one of their biggest tests is the acquisition of Whole Foods, and now to build on that test bay, Amazon is providing additional perks exclusively to prime customers.

By downloading the Wholefoods App, and then scanning a custom QR code at checkout, the Prime customer can receive up to an additional 10% off the purchase.

Beyond that, there are items which are only on sale to Prime members.

Amazon has always pushed Prime exclusive deals...but those deals were driven by "Amazon Prime". Now that Amazon is dropping their own brand name and just going with Prime, it seems like that program is becoming more and more important to their growth.

Beyond that, if they were to say acquire Target, it could be a more seamless way to promote a sale/perk without confusing the customer.

In the beginning, prime met free fast shipping. Today, Prime is a perk which seems to better by the week.
