A rare instance where the version in a cover overshadows the original. Scottish singer/songwriter Colin Hunter, brings out the true emotion of the song in his soulful rendition of Twin Atlantic's "Crash Land".

The original video is set against the backdrop of scenes from the movie "It's Kind of a Funny Story". The movie is about a boy who checks himself into a hospital because, he's anxious and suicidal about school, life, and relationships. While in hospital he meets this girl who he develops a growing affection for despite still pining after another. Ultimately, he reaches out hoping the girl he just met has any feelings for him. In the end, they make up and find security and understanding with each other.

The movie is a great movie, possibly the best Zach Galifianakis has done. He's funny, charming, and endearing, which he usually isn't. It tells a charming story about people and how we need each other. Not simply for romantic interests, but that we need people to be able to convey our thoughts, feelings, and to develop personal understanding.

And to me, that's what this song is about. Not that two people were together and are now alone in a relationship, but that there is a person, alone in the world, and he's looking for someone. Because when you're depressed, despite how many people are around you, you are alone, and you just desperately want someone to grab the rope and pull you in.
